I stood on the other side of the railing with my co-worker Mark Huckel as the Rolling Stones arrived for their second show at The Spectrum. Photographing under the dim fluorescent lights was very difficult as long shutter speeds and wides apertures were necessary.

Nevertheless, this photo provides a glimpse of what it’s like to be backstage with the Rolling Stones walking by only a few feet away. The road crew and security for the Stones had seen me working throughout  the day and did  not question my backstage access.

Bender played linebacker on the Kent State University Football team before joining the Stones’ Security team. Bender’s back-up at Kent State was Jack Lambert, who starred with the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years during their championships days. Somewhere in Ohio, Lambert was probably icing down his knees when this photo was taken.
