The Rolling Stones’ security team discuss strategy for moving the band to their next destination outside an exit door located on the north side. They were very nice to me. They also have an incredibly stressful job in this day and age of terrorism. Photo dedicated to Bob Bender, a former member of this team. © Roger Barone 2013

The Rolling Stones bus waits outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon. When I first saw the bus, I thought there was a convention for  Donner Party descendents or historians. Until I noticed a fidgety Four Seasons employee, wearing a suit and speaking into his walkie talkie and cell phone at the hotel’s side entrance. A short time later, a couple of broad-shouldered men with tattoos running the length of their arms appeared. I thought they were wrestlers, until I heard them speak with British accents. WELLAH! I introduced myself and they were very nice. Maybe the “Donner Party” was a codename they were using at a restaurant somewhere. Call that French Restaurant (Jagger has a French pallet) in South Philly that everyone raves about, and maybe you’ll see them…that’s just a guess.© Roger Barone 2013

Rolling Stones’ guitarist Mick Taylor requested this photo with a Center City District employee on patrol around the Four Seasons Hotel vicinity, so I took it.  She asked me if that was Mick Jagger afterward. The photo was taken on the north side of the Four Seasons Hotel, where a bus (with a sign posted on the dashboard window said “Donner Party”) was parked opposite an exit door. Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor boarded the bus, along with Bernard Fowler and Darryl Jones. Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts were not seen. © Roger Barone 2013

Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones exits the Four Seasons Hotel on the Parkway on Sunday afternoon (june 23, 2013). Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor also boarded the bus, which had a sign saying, “Donner Party” placed in the curbside window. The bus was parked on a side entrance. The bodyguards were very nice to me, even suggesting that Keith is very nice and that I should ask him. I should have taken photos instead. I missed a great series of photos while attempting to get my Spectrum Arena book signed. Win some; Lose some. ©roger barone 2013
