MICK JAGGER/ROLLING STONES: JFK STADIUM (September 25, 1981)
How to shoot a photo of Mick Jagger’s crotch
- Fight your way through thousands of people to get a position close to the stage.
- Wait at least four or five hours before the Stones take the stage, surrounded by pushing, shoving, drunks and people also angling for a closer position.
- Carry a milk crate past security and stand on it, as people are dancing, screaming, knocking you off balance every time you raise your camera.
- Wipe the sweat out of your eyes whenever you have a chance so you can focus the lens.
- Try not to dance with the Rolling Stones music blasting from the massive sound towers a few feet away to your left.
- Get lucky as hell when Mick Jagger decides to squat right in front of you and look into your lens.
- Maintain your concentration and release the shutter with all the correct exposure controls set
- Don’t think about anything..shoot as many frames as possible while he’s right there, and before the crowd knocks you over as they attempt to shake Jagger’s hand.
